We had a big day Thursday at Zone
Meeting. We got there at 11:30. One of the members knows we have Zone meetings
every month, so they buy us lunch and have it delivered. We have a chance to
eat and get to know the young missionaries. The first half of the meeting was
given by the Sister Zone Leader, on loving and getting along with your
companion.
We get a lot of talks on that subject. I feel great compassion for
President and Sister Turner. Every time I hear the subject I wonder what
challenges our mission president is faced with. Elder Andersen, our Zone
Leader, encouraged us to prepare for Elder Bednar's visit to our Seoul mission
on October 19th. So tonight Dan went to the Branch to watch the
Priesthood session with the Brothers in the ward.We have been told Elder Bednar wants us to study four of his past talks. I decided to start to listen and read them while Dan, I mean Elder Hawks, was in Priesthood. I listened to three of them. I felt an overwhelming desire to pray. It is interesting as we feel the spirit how our prayers change. They are no longer just repeated words; they are no longer the demands of a selfish child. It is as though the fog is lifted and your vision becomes clear. You understand your heartbreak. You become more willing to accept His will. Faith is no longer if I believe enough I can move mountains. We can only move the mountain he doesn’t want us to climb. You realize faith is believing He sees the whole picture, and He has an eternal view of what is best. It is praying for understanding and comfort. It is praying for guidance. It praying for those that broke your heart. It praying for healing of a broken heart. It is humbling.
The following day, Dan got a call
from the Sister Missionaries, with wonderful news. When we met the two new
sister missionaries this week I gave them the name of the young lady I met at
the Relief Society Social. She is with the Air Force, so she is one of the people
that we should be working with. She is so cute. She has never been active, just
baptized. They were able to talk to her, and she’s going to watch conference
with them. It so exciting, another 1+. It will be wonderful to work with the
sister missionaries as she learns the gospel. I feel she needs this in her life
right now. It is so exciting to know Heavenly Father is opening doors, so we
can do His will. So we can travel the path home with our brothers and sisters.
It makes me really sad when I talk to one of these valuable spirits, and they
feel like they have no value. I try to help them see what I see in them, but it
takes time to erase Satan's cunning lies. He is a master at tearing us down,
and breaking our spirit. He’s always trying to convince us, to give up. That we
can’t make it, so why try. He is so sneaky! I know he gets me with that one. I
think it’s how he hurts Mormon woman the most. We aren’t going to smoke and drink,
we won’t fall for that lie! However we so easily believe the lie that we aren’t
good enough. My heart breaks for the two people we are working with, that have
the same weakness as me. It so easy to forget our value!

I like what you said about faith, "You realize faith is believing He sees the whole picture, and He has an eternal view of what is best."
