National Theater of Korea
On September 17 we met with the Mission
President and his wife, at the National Theater of Korea.
We also met two other Senior Missionaries
couples, and a couple from Korea.
We were going to go see traditional Korean music
and dance performance.
It was a wonderful performance. As I sat
watching, it me very aware of how completely different the Korean Culture is
from our own.
I thought about the missionaries telling us when
you shake hands with a Korean, you put your left hand by your right elbow or on
the back of their hand. This is done so they will know you don’t have a knife
to stab them.
I’m sure they don’t think that today, but the
tradition had to start somewhere.
How sad to live with this kind of fear? It makes
you wonder about what these people have gone through. If you put the chopsticks
in the rice sticking up it is like a stabbing.
After the performance we
went out to dinner. It was so great to get to know our new friends a little
better.
Good for you that you have learned to eat with chopsticks. Eating with chopsticks would be a good diet solution for me. Ha!
